| Lutheran Womens Missionary League (LWML)
LWML is an organization of more than 250,000 Lutheran women committed to serving their4 Lord in Mission service and Christian fellowship and growth. Our motto is "Serve the Lord with Gladness."
We are Organized in local societies, area zones, and districts. Our local St. John society meets four times a year on Saturday mornings. We coordinate the collection of school bags and Hygeine kits for Orphan Grain Train. We also prepare and distribute May Day gift bags to the shut-ins in the congregation. Zone Rallies with interesting speakers or Bible studies are held twice yearly. District retreats and Young Women's retreats are held once a year. District and national conventions are held on alternate years.
All of these events are opportunities to meet with other Christian women and grow in your Christian faith, but all of these events are optional. None are required. Many of our members are very faithful in attending our local meetings and supporting our local projects, but they have never attended a convention or a retreat. We accept and appreciate your participation in whatever activities you choose.
If you are a communicant member of a Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod congregation you can be a part of this exciting program. We support mission grant projects at both the district (South Wisconsin) and national level. We would welcome your membership in our local society. However, you can also support these projects by picking up either the little square mite box or the round box which fits into a cup holder in your car from the counter in the narthex. Put your change, or bills, in one of these containers and drop it in the larger mite box on the counter in the narthex. You can also drop an offering in the box on the "cookie table" on LWML for Mites Sundays. All of the money from the mite boxes goes to mission projects.
While LWML membership is a wonderful opportunity to make a difference in the world, you will find that it will also change you and give you an opportunity to enjoy the fellowship of other Lutheran women and to grow in your faith and committment to your Lord. Please consider joining us.
